We offer Wisconsin guided duck hunts from layout boats as well as gunning out of the big boat with a blind, guided by U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain Matt Malyuk. We mostly hunt on Lake Superior, but we also offer open water hunts on the Lake Pepin portion of the Mississippi River during the last two weeks of the season. Hunts can be booked from October through early December.
We have 3 Mighty Layout Boys layout boats – a one-man Classic and 2 one-man Supermags. The tender boat is a 22-foot Starcraft powered by a 150 Mercury OptiMax.
The number of hunters will determine which boat or boats we will be using as well as the size of the decoy spread. We use a variety of species in our decoy spread depending on the birds in the area to ensure better gunning.
Bluebills, Redheads, Buffleheads and Goldeneyes are the main duck species harvested but in a typical year, we shoot a dozen or more different waterfowl species including Ringers, Canvasbacks, all three Scoter species, Oldsquaw, Greenwing Teal, Mallards, and the occasional Canada Goose.
